The Rainy River District School Board regrettably approved the resignation of Fort Frances trustee Donna Dittaro, as announced by chair Dan Belluz, at its regular meeting last Tuesday (Nov 4).
Belluz noted the importance of her work as CAO of the Rainy River District Social Services Administration Board, saying Dittaro had cited time constraints as a reason for her resignation.
Trustee Ron McAlister expressed respect for Dittaro, as well as appreciation for her contribution.
“Donna was an excellent colleague and we wish her all the best for the future,” stated McAlister.
“Donna always considered the well-being of our students first,” echoed Education Director Jack McMaster.
“I have truly enjoyed my time on the board and will miss it immensely,” noted Dittaro, who did not attend the November meeting.
“Many of our . . . board employees are recognized as leaders and ‘champions’ across the province,” she added. “We are truly fortunate to have such a dedicated, creative group of people working with our children.
“I do hope to continue to contribute to the board in some capacity as a community representative.”
The board is seeking a replacement for the position that serves the Town of Fort Frances and unorganized areas east of Fort Frances.
With consideration for the cost of an election, a motion was passed to fill the position through the appointment of a qualified person, approved by the board, in accordance with the Education Act.
The board will advertise for candidates, and have application forms available at the board office as well as on the board’s website at www.rrdsb.com
The selected candidate will serve out the remainder of the term, which runs until Nov. 30, 2010.
