Customer service challenge to start by mid-March

The Rainy River Future Development Corp. is getting ready for its sixth-annual customer service challenge, with the “mystery shopping” to start in a few weeks.

RRFDC officer manager Cynde Milette said 29 district businesses signed up for the challenge as of the Feb. 20 deadline, including 20 from Fort Frances and nine from communities in the west end of the district.

“That [number] is good for us to work with,” she noted. “The information packages will go out today to the businesses, and we’ll shop probably starting mid-March to April.”

Milette noted each business will be “mystery shopped” three times by three different people during that time period.

The shoppers will consist of volunteers, RRFDC members, and a couple of “semi-professionals.”

After the “mystery shopping” is complete, the RRFDC will tally up the results, review the comments, and then pick the top 10 from across the district, also noting honourable mentions.

The winners will be announced in May during a Chamber of Commerce mix-and-mingle as they were last year.

After the winners are announced, Milette said all the participants (regardless of how they do) will get access to their performance evaluations so they can find out where their strengths and weaknesses lie when it comes to serving customers.

Last year’s winners (in alphabetical order) were Cloverleaf Grocery (Emo), Corner Closet (Emo), Curves For Women, Fort Frances General Supply, Green’s Countrywide Furniture, McTaggarts, NCDS, Northridge Funeral Home (Emo), Northwoods Gallery & Gifts, and Warehouse One.
