Confederation College gets new manager

The local Confederation College campus may have a new manager this fall, but she is definitely not new to Fort Frances.
Anne Renaud will be taking over as manager of the Confederation College Fort Frances campus starting this Monday.
“I’m really excited. I think this is going to be a great opportunity for me and I am looking forward to it,” Renaud said yesterday, just hours after accepting the position.
Renaud is taking over from long time manager Don Lovisa who is moving to Thunder Bay as the new director of the School of Access and Literacy for Confederation College. Lovisa will be overseeing all regional campuses, including Fort Frances, as well as the continuing and distance education programs.
This Montreal native is far from new to the community, having spent the past four years in Fort Frances operating her own management consulting business.
“I think that certainly from the private sector, I have been able to see all the needs in the community, and the things the college is already offering or should be offering,” she said.
A number of initiatives including the practice firm, which will be holding it’s official opening 10 a.m. Thursday Aug. 14, and the link with Rainy River Community College in International Falls have peaked Renaud’s interests. She said she is eager to help keep them up and running.
But, she admits the next few weeks will be a learning process as she takes over for Lovisa.
“I think I have very big shoes to fill. Lovisa did an excellent job,” she said.
