The Fort Frances Voyageur Lions Club will be holding its annual “Drive-Thru Breakfast” next Thursday (Sept. 25) at Tim Hortons, with residents invited to come by early and pick up their bag of goodies in support of local children’s activities.
Club members, as well as local volunteers and members of the Fort Frances High School Leo Club, will be handing out 250 goodie bags, along with Tim Hortons coffee and muffins, beginning at 6:30 a.m. and running until about 9 a.m.—or until the bags sell out.
The suggested donation is $10 per bag.
Club members have been approaching local businesses for donations, and have lots of goodies lined up to put in each and every bag.
Last year, people received a water bottle, a breakfast bar, candies, pens or pencils, a bookmark, a piece of fruit, and coupons and gifts from local businesses, in addition to their coffee and muffin.
As well, about one-in-six bags will contain an additional prize, which could be worth anywhere from $5 to about $200. Some of these prizes are on display in a storefront at 220 Scott St.
The drive-thru breakfast raised about $2,100 last year, which went towards local children’s activities.
Anyone wishing to volunteer to help pass out bags that morning should contact Jim or Val Martindale (274-7829).
