NLSS skaters fare well

The Northern Lights School of Skating had some of its skaters participate at the Kenora Futures STAR 1-4 event over the weekend, with great results.

Rachel Ste Croix earned gold in STAR 2 Free Skate while also nabbing bronze in STAR 2 Elements.

Lyla Moen nabbed silver in STAR 2 Free Skate, bronze in STAR 2 Elements, and silver in Pre-Introductory Interpretive.

Lakers split pair of weekend games

The Fort Frances Lakers were able to earn a split in their home games over the weekend.

The undermanned Lakers weren't able to keep up with the league-leading Thunder Bay North Stars in a 5-0 loss Friday night but then rebounded with a big 6-2 win over the visiting Minnesota Iron Rangers yesterday afternoon in a Family Day matinee.

Four Muskie skiers qualify for OFSAA

The Muskie Nordic ski team put on a show at the NWOSSAA championships held Tuesday in Dryden.

The black-and-gold now will have four of its members representing Northwestern Ontario at the OFSAA championships set for Feb. 28-March 1 in Duntroon.

Emma Toriseva (17:55) and Kayli Machura (18:33) finished 1-2 in the junior girls' division to book their ticket to the all-Ontarios.
