Wolves walkoff Lakers for another victory

Category:

The Sight & Sound Wolves are starting to show that their bite matches their bark.

Aaron Caul hit a walkoff homer in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift the Wolves to their third-straight win in a 2-1 decision over the Sabaskong Lakers in Rainy River District Fastball League action last Thursday night at VanJura.

Nick Wepruk also went yard while Murray Armstrong nabbed the pitching win for the Wolves (4-2).

James Yerxa was saddled with the tough luck loss for the Lakers (2-4).

In other games last Thursday, the Stratton Eagles rolled to their second win in a row with a 12-5 win over Windey's Warriors.

Guy Arpin garnered the win for Stratton (2-4) while Matt Comegan suffered the defeat for the Warriors (3-3).

The Manitou Thunderbirds nabbed their second win of the season with a narrow 9-8 decision over the Dawson Tigers.

Bob Andy nabbed the win for Manitou (2-4) while Gunner Big George was tagged with the loss for Dawson (4-2).

Faron Morrisseau and Chris Morrisseau both homered as the Couchiching Raiders doubled the Barwick Blue Knights 18-6.

Sheldon Kelly Jr. earned the win for the Raiders (4-2) while Tanner Smith took the loss for Barwick (3-3).

And the Rainy River Royals improved to 5-1 with a 20-10 romp over the Northwest Bay Chieftains.

Tony Armstrong smacked a round-tripper while Myron Armstrong garnered the pitching win.

Braydon Smith was tagged with the loss for the winless Chieftains (0-5).

The Fort Frances Braves (5-0) at Sabaskong Goldeneyes (1-4) game was postponed due to the Goldeneyes not having enough players to field a team and will be rescheduled for later in the season.

Last night's games, the outcomes of which weren't know as of press time, saw the Chieftains welcome the Eagles to Northwest Bay, the Warriors play host to the Lakers, Rainy River tangle with the Wolves, Dawson square off against the Raiders, the Braves travel to Barwick to take on the Blue Knights, and the Thunderbirds battled the Goldeneyes.
