Team Black sweeps

It’s been lights out for anyone trying to dim Team Black’s ambitions of victory so far this season in the Fort Frances Men’s Basketball League.

Josh Mastin netted 41 points to carry Team Black to a 97-75 win over Team Red on Tuesday at J.W. Walker School.

John Sivonen had a game-high 42 points for Team Red (2-6), but didn’t get much offensive support from the rest of the squad.

Team Black (8-0) then bucked the odds and also won the second half of their doubleheader—a 85-69 victory over the more-rested Team White (2-6).

Mastin and Sam Soderman each had 29 points for the victors.

Jake McIntosh had 21 to lead Team White while Chris Page added 20, including five three-pointers in the second half.

Action continues for at least one more week at J.W. Walker on Tuesday at 8 p.m.

The league tentatively is slated to switch to the large gym at Fort High for its first Monday games on Feb. 1.
