Team Black primed

It’s been quite a chore for anyone else to beat Team Black in the Fort Frances Men’s Basketball League this season.
Trying to do it when one has just played a down-to-the-wire barnburner only makes it tougher.
Team White pulled out a 72-71 overtime nail-biter against Team Red in its opening game of the final night of the regular season Monday at Fort High.
But with their tanks on empty facing league-leading Team Black, White was helpless in falling 108-56.
White took a 10-point lead at halftime in the opening game—only to see Red storm back to go up by six with two minutes to play after forcing a slew of turnovers.
With Red up by two in the waning moments of the extra period, Jake McIntosh of Team White had his drive to the hoop stopped.
But McIntosh spied teammate Chris Page, who drilled a game-winning three-pointer with two seconds to go.
Page and Todd Richards led White with 15 points apiece while John Sivonen netted a game-high 45 for Red.
The nightcap saw Black run away on the fatigued White side, with Josh Mastin notching a game-high 42 points.
Richards had 25 for White, with DJ Mackintosh chipping in with a season-high 16.
The league semi-final goes Monday, with White facing Red at 7 p.m. at Fort High.
Red then will play Black in an exhibition game at 8:15 p.m.
The semi-final, meanwhile, will take on Black for the league title April 18.
