The opening game of the Fort Frances Men's Basketball League on Tuesday night featured a hard-fought battle that saw all 10 guys give their best effort playing a full 40 minutes.
In the end, John Sivonen's 22 points led Revco (9-8) to a 54-48 victory over Arctic Cat.
Jake McIntosh, meanwhile, did some great outside shooting—draining many baskets with a hand right in his face as he put up a team-high 22 points in a losing cause.
In the night's second game, BDO (1-16) trailed by only 10 points at the half.
But the squad only managed one basket from the floor in the second half en route to a 56-23 loss to Sunset Landscaping (13-4).
The father/son combo of Todd and Wyatt Richards led BDO with 14 points, while Mark Heyens' fast breaks up the floor helped him to a team-high 16 points for Sunset.
Seeming somewhat tired from playing two games on a night, Arctic Cat (9-9) didn't have much of an answer for the smooth passing of RRFN (11-5), which moved the ball around really well en route to a convincing 71-40 victory.
Four RRFN players ended up in double digits, with Sam Soderman netting a team-high 27 points.
Payne Hunter added three three-pointers, which helped him to a season-high 13 points.
McIntosh had 10 points to lead Arctic Cat.
