Tyler Johnson tallied twice, including the game-winner, to lift the Thief River Falls Norskies to a 4-1 win over the visiting Fort Frances Lakers on Tuesday night.
Jaedin Ness opened the scoring for the fifth-place Lakers (16-28-2-1) more than 13 minutes into the first period as he notched his 17th goal of the season.
But the third-place Norskies (28-17-4-1) came right back with the equalizer on the next shift as Blake Nelson netted his 26th.
Johnson then put the Norskies ahead 5:20 into the second.
The hosts then got insurance markers from Michael Crosbie and Johnson in the third to cap the scoring.
Defenceman Connor Bowey also chipped in with two assists for the Norskies.
Bailey Schmitz made 27 saves to earn the win and also picked up an assist on Johnson's third-period marker.
Matt Booth stopped 39 shots in taking the loss.
The Lakers resume action this weekend with a trio of home games.
Fort Frances will host the Norskies tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. before welcoming the top-ranked Thunder Bay North Stars (42-3-1-1) on Saturday at 7:30.
The squad then will have an afternoon affair against the fourth-place Dryden GM Ice Dogs (24-18-4-2) on Sunday at 1:15 p.m.
All three games will be played at the Ice For Kids Arena.
In other news, the SIJHL has announced the make-up date for the game between the Minnesota Iron Rangers and Lakers originally scheduled for last Saturday here.
It now be will held Sunday, March 10 at 3:30 p.m. at the Ice For Kids Arena.
The game was postponed due to a high number of injuries and illness that had extremely limited the Iron Rangers' roster.
As one of the two U.S.-based teams in the SIJHL, the Iron Rangers are not allowed to register affiliate players in accordance with Hockey Canada/USA Hockey rules and regulations and thus weren't able to ice a complete line-up.
