The Memorial Sports Centre wasn't a friendly place for the visiting Kenora Broncos on Tuesday night as the Muskie boys' hockey team skated to a 9-1 win while the girls' squad cruised to a 20-2 rout.
Eric Pitkanen and Cole Magill both scored twice and added an assist to pace the Muskie boys' attack in the '52 Canadians Arena.
Kaleb Bruyere opened the scoring at 8:22 of the first period on a feed from Pitkanen and Austin Armstrong.
After Jake Barker doubled the lead at 16:51 of the second, Pitkanen buried his first of the night at 14:35 on a cross-crease feed from call-up Matt Spence to make it 3-0.
The Muskies then went up 4-0 with 10:41 to go in the period on Magill's first of the game.
Kenora finally got on the board at 8:44 when Ryan Davidson beat Muskies' goalie Darian Klem.
But the Muskies responded with goals by Magill and Brett Kenny to make it 6-1 at the second intermission.
Jace Jackson and Bruyere added third-period goals before Pitkanen capped the scoring with just over a minute to go.
Klem earned the win in goal.
In girls' action at the Ice For Kids Arena, meanwhile, Taylor Croswell netted four goals while Jillian Calder added a hat trick to lead the Muskie onslaught.
Ironically, it was the Broncos who actually scored first when Starr Schott fired one past Muskie goalie Sydney Beck just eight seconds into the game.
After Calder tied it at 3:29 on an unassisted effort, Croswell (two), Annalise Hayes, Hanna LeDrew, and Jessica Steele all scored to make it 6-1 after the first period.
Siobhan MacKintosh extended the lead to 7-1 just 55 seconds into the second.
Calder then completed her hat trick with back-to-back tallies while Croswell scored her third and fourth of the game.
Kelsey Langtry's goal then make it 12-1 before Hayes added her second of the night at 9:26.
The Broncos responded 15 seconds later on a marker by Savannah Prince.
But Langtry netted her second of the game while Jenna Clendenning also tallied to give the Muskies a 15-2 lead going into the third.
Katelin Gurniak and Lillie MacKinnon each added a pair of third-period goals before Khalie Degagne rounded out the scoring.
Beck earned the win between the pipes.
Both Muskie squads next host the Broncos again this coming Tuesday (Nov. 28).
The boys play at 7:15 p.m. at the Ice For Kids Arena while the girls square off at 7:30 p.m. on the '52 Canadians side.
