It was double trouble for the St. Thomas Aquinas Saints on Tuesday as both Muskie hockey teams went to Kenora and skated away with victories.
The girls' squad squared off in an afternoon affair, with the Muskies eking out a 3-2 win to improve to 6-0-1 on the NorWOSSA season.
Captain Annalise ('CC') Hayes opened the scoring at 4:54 of the first period.
Saints' captain Katie Marcine got her team on the board with 5:10 to go in the second frame.
After Emily Kaun gave the Muskies a 2-1 lead at 2:23 of the third, Jillian Calder scored less than a minute later to make it 3-1.
The Saints made things interesting when Kat Reid tallied with 6:39 to go.
But Kamryn Sandelovich stood tall between the pipes down the stretch to preserve the win.
In boys' action, meanwhile, Kaleb Bruyere scored twice as the Muskies doubled the Saints 6-3 to remain unbeaten in NorWOSSA play (4-0).
After a scoreless first period, the Saints jumped on the scoreboard first just 30 seconds into the second.
Bruyere notched the tying goal, with Cole Allan and Reed Bodnar drawing assists, at 2:17.
Byron Stewart then gave the Muskies a 2-1 lead at 9:31 before Bruyere pushed it to 3-1 on a feed from Stewart with 6:05 to go in the period.
The Saints trimmed it to 3-2 just under a minute later.
Eric Pitkanen made it 4-2 at 1:55 of third on a feed from James Gushulak and Bruyere.
Jace Jackson then notched one with 12:58 to go to put the Muskies up by three.
The Saints once again made things interesting, scoring with 6:33 left to trim it to 5-3.
But Jake Barker scored on a Dayton Labbe feed to seal the win just 23 seconds later.
Both Muskie squads are back in action this Sunday and Monday when they host the Sioux Lookout Warriors.
