Men's fastball action in full swing

The Rainy River District Fastball League season is now in full swing although Mother Nature had other ideas on Thursday night.

All but one of the night's six games were postponed due to inclement weather.

The lone contest that was played saw Windy's Warriors eke out an 8-7 win over the Sight & Sound Wolves.

Marcel Pagee earned the pitching win while Murray Armstrong was tagged with the loss.

Stu Allen and Rob McGinnis homered for the Warriors, with Matt Dunn going yard for the Wolves.

Opening night action back on May 15 saw Jeff Morrison homer twice to lead the Dawson Tigers a 10-1 romp over the Rainy River Royals.

Carl Big George Jr. earned the win while Benji Dobransky suffered the loss.

JJ Landry was a star as he earned the win and also belted a homer in the Barwick Blue Knights' 6-1 win against the Stratton Eagles.

Guy Arpin took the loss.

The Couchiching Raiders rolled to an 11-4 victory over the Warriors as Sheldon Kelly Sr. earned the win over Pagee.

Kyle Copenace homered to lead the Sabaskong Lakers to an 11-3 win over the Sabaskong Goldeneyes 11-3.

James Kelly garnered the win while Cole Beacham was tagged with the loss.

Elsewhere, the Fort Frances Braves topped Sight & Sound 9-7 as Jaden Gustafson earned the win while “Johnny D” suffered the loss.

The Northwest Bay Chieftains eked out a 8-7 win over the Manitou Thunderbirds.

Darren Smith grabbed the win while Charlie Debungee took the loss.

Then on May 17, Barwick nabbed a 10-6 win against the Lakers.

JJ Landry picked up the win while James Kelly was saddled with the loss.

Brandon Pratt homered for Barwick while Cecil Copenace responded for the Lakers.

Rainy River cruised to a 9-1 romp over the Goldeneyes, with Myron Armstrong getting the win while Keenan Copenace took the loss.

The Raiders and Chieftains, meanwhile, battled to a 4-4 tie in a game cut short due to rain.

In a high-scoring affair, Sight & Sound came out on top with a 23-15 victory over Manitou.

Nick Wepruk had the win while Charlie Debungee was tagged with the loss.

Kurtis Wepruk homered twice for Sight & Sound, including a grand slam, while “Johnny D” and Aaron Caul also went yard.

Nathan Debungee homered twice for the Thunderbirds while Charlie Debungee and Roger Allan also had round-trippers.

Stratton at Dawson and the Braves at the Warriors were postponed due to rain.

May 22 action saw the Lakers top Rainy River 7-5, with Kyle Copenace earning the win while Benji Dobransky took the loss.

Guy Arpin homered to lead Stratton to a 17-4 blowout of the Goldeneyes.

Jackson Arpin was the victor while Cole Beacham suffered the loss.

Dawson doubled Barwick 8-4 as Jeff Morrison garnered the win against Brandon Pratt.

Brad Wakefield hit the only home run of the game.

Jaden Gustafson nabbed the win and homered to lead the Braves to a 13-2 romp over Manitou.

Charlie Debungee suffered the loss.

Brett Mann and Jesse Tom both hit two homers while Brian Hook added one of his own.

Sight & Sound cruised to a 12-3 win against the Raiders as Murray Armstrong grabbed the win while Mike Jourdain was saddled with the loss.

And the Warriors rolled to a 14-7 triumph over the Chieftains.

Rob McGinnis earned the win while Don Smith had the loss.

Ben Smith hit an inside-the-park homer for the game's lone round-tripper.
