They already had their open tryout camp scheduled for this weekend but the Fort Frances Lakers weren't sitting around counting the minutes to pass the time.
Rather, a trio of team-related events occurred over the past two days.
Yesterday, head coach and general manager Wayne Strachan traded last season's No. 1 goalie, Fort Frances native Brandon Bodnar, to the Thunder Bay North Stars.
The press release did not state what the Lakers got in return.
Bodnar, 19, posted a 10-10-2-2 regular-season record last season, along with a 3.08 GAA and .912 save percentage.
Then in the playoffs, Bodnar posted a 3-4-1 mark, to go along with a 3.67 GAA and .916 save percentage.
On Tuesday, the Lakers re-hired Chris Sinclair as an assistant coach.
Sinclair was an assistant for the 2015-16 season, then but took last year off to help out on the bench of the Muskie boys' hockey team.
Also Tuesday, the Lakers announced defenceman Brandon Zajicek had committed to playing for the Curry College Colonels (Milton, Mass.) in the ECAC Northeast Conference this fall.
The blueliner from Albertville, Mn., who turns 21 this Saturday, spent two seasons with the Lakers, where he collected 50 points in 74 regular-season games and another nine points in 15 playoff ones.
Zajicek was second on the team in defence scoring with 23 points in 35 games in what was an injury-riddled season last year.
Meanwhile, the Lakers will hold their tryout camp tomorrow through Sunday at Bronco Arena in International Falls.
Registration and orientation begins at 7 p.m., with the first intrasquad scrimmage going at 8:30 p.m.
Two more scrimmages will be held Saturday at 11:15 a.m. and 7 p.m.
Sunday will see a final scrimmage at 10 a.m., followed by meetings between the coaches and each individual player.
