The Fort Frances Lakers rallied to tie the game but then gave up a goal early in overtime to fall 4-3 to the host Thunder Bay North Stars last night.
Keighan Gerrie beat Rob Ivy just 44 seconds into the extra period to secure the victory.
Thunder Bay notched the lone marker of the opening period on Troy Sherman's fourth of the season.
The Lakers drew even 8:27 into the second thanks to Cameron Birkeland, then took the lead on a Carter Chorney tally just over two minutes later.
But Brendan Gillis tied it at 16:34, then the North Stars retook the lead 73 seconds later as Avery Siau finished off the work of Gerrie and Alex Maticic.
The Lakers knotted the score again quickly in the third as Ian Tookenay notched his first before the period was a minute old.
Former Lakers' Brandon Bodnar earn the win while Ivy was tagged with the loss.
The Lakers, who sit in fourth place in the six-team SIJHL at 2-4-1-1 (four points), next visit the Minnesota Iron Rangers this Saturday in Hoyt Lakes.
Then they'll host the English River Miners on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Ice For Kids Arena.
The Thief River Falls Norskies continue to lead the pack at 6-0-0-0 (12 points), with the Dryden GM Ice Dogs right behind at 5-0-0-1 (11 points).
The North Stars jumped into third place at 3-2-1-0 (seven points).
The Iron Rangers (1-4-0-1) and Miners (1-3-0-0) round out the standings.
