The Fort Frances Lakers announced Monday that defenceman Anthony Antonelli has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey at Becker College in Worcester, Mass.
Antonelli will be joining a Becker Hawks men's program that competes in the eight-school Commonwealth Coast Conference.
The 20-year-old is in his second season in the SIJHL with Fort Frances, where the Commack, N.Y. native serves as an assistant captain.
In 92 career games, the defensive-minded blueliner has produced personal bests in both assists and points in 2018-19 (five goals, 17 assists).
“Anthony is very deserving of this opportunity,” Lakers' head coach/general manager Wayne Strachan said.
“You are not going to find a player more committed to everything he does on and off the ice,” he lauded.
“Because of his work ethic, he has improved his game through the last two years with our program,” Strachan added.
“We are happy to make this announcement and wish Anthony much success in his future endeavours.”
