The Borderland Judo Club is hosting its second annual judo tournament on Saturday at the Couchiching Multi-Use Facility.
Judo clubs from as far east as Marathon and as far west as Portage la Prairie, Man., are expected to attend and we have also extended the invitation to our neighbours from the U.S. as far south as Minneapolis.
Organization is in full swing and everything is coming together nicely, with participation numbers expected to top 100 fighters.
The Borderland Judo Club has a banner number of students this year, with 36 members and a waiting list for those wanting to join.
I estimate we will have in excess of 20 competitors from the Rainy River District to compete for our custom medals that have been crafted by Gord Witherspoon and his Fort Frances High School shop class.
The Couchiching facility is a great venue that has fantastic viewing from mat side or the upper deck.
Competition will commence at 11 a.m. and admission is free.
Come out and support our youth!
