A last-minute, big-name roster addition still couldn’t swing the scoreboard in favour of the Boston Pizza Ball Blasters.
Jaymee Fiset and Rebecca Selman each netted four goals to lead the Shear Serenity Strykers (formerly Team Orange) to a 10-9 win yesterday on the opening night of action in the Borderland Women’s Indoor Soccer League at Fort High.
Robyn Dennis and Stephanie Mann added singles.
Boston Pizza had its lineup bolstered earlier this week with the addition of super scorer Jess Caul.
Caul lived up to her billing—drilling five goals last night—while Sydney Radigan had the other four.
Meanwhile, the Wright Physiotherapy Rockettes chose to focus on a more defensive approach as they downed the Fine Foods Fury 5-2 in the late game.
Maggie Jean led the Rockettes with four goals while league newcomer Lorina Fryer netted the other one.
Bryanna Dustin and Katie Beninger, another pair of league rookies, replied for the Fury.
Action resumes next Wednesday at Fort High, with Boston Pizza facing the Fury at 7 p.m.
A clash between Shear Serenity and Team Green, who had the bye last night, will follow at 8:15 p.m.
Wright Physiotherapy will have the bye.
