Hospital auxiliary plans luncheon for March 12

The La Verendrye Hospital Auxiliary executive held its first meeting of the new year on Tuesday, Feb. 6 in the hospital boardroom.

Social director Diane Glowasky advised the quarterly luncheon will be held at Knox United Church here on Monday, March 12.

Tickets will be available for purchase starting Feb. 23 at the hospital gift shop, Pharmasave, and Shoppers.

They must be purchased by Friday, March 9 as the caterers must be advised of the number of people who will be attending the luncheon.

Auxiliary president Judy Webster reported the new store room on the third floor has been set up.

It has relieved the pressure of the overcrowding in the main floor storage area.

As well, Shirley Scofield reported on her investigation into the purchase of vests for auxiliary workers.

Costs for making the vests and purchasing crests will be investigated.

A reminder the Staff Appreciation Coffee Break will be held on Friday, March 2 in the hospital cafeteria.

Dixie Badiuk, meanwhile, reported the “Lobby Lottery” continues to do well.

In other news, “Rocking for a Reason” is a go again for this year, and will be held in conjunction with the Chamber of Commerce's trade show at the end of April.

Irene Laing reported on the 50/50 draw and thanked the members who worked so hard to make it successful.

Helen Cousineau was the lucky winner.

The Nomination Committee will be meeting shortly to come up with a slate of officers for the annual general meeting that will take place in June.

Members are encouraged to consider the position of Member-at-Large as this is a position without responsibility and provides an introduction to the operation of the auxiliary.

As well, the auxiliary still is in need of a convener for the annual “Strawberry Social” to be held in June.

Anyone wishing to volunteer for this position should contact Judy Webster at 274-3190.

Members also are reminded the regional spring conference will be held April 27-28 in Thunder Bay.

Delegates will be selected at the March meeting.

Finally, the “Spirit of Christmas” will be held on Sunday, Dec. 2.

The Copper River Inn graciously has donated its ballroom for this event, including coffee and tea.

Janet Lambert will be chairing this event and hopes to get the organizing committee up and running fairly soon.

Members interested in getting involved in this event should contact Lambert at 274-2713.
