The Fort Frances Her-icanes aren't ready to pass the torch quite yet.
The three-time defending champions are off to another Rainy River District Women's Fastball League final after routing the top-ranked Renegades in the Winner's Side final of the playoff bracket on Monday night at Oltsher Field in Barwick.
Third-seeded Fort Frances used four multi-run innings to quickly put the game out of reach for the Renegades as they jumped all over starting pitcher Karma Andy.
Sarah Teeple smacked a solo home run to lead off the second inning, a frame where the Renegades scored their only two runs of the game.
Marissa Kerry pitched a complete game to nab the win for the 'Canes, racking up nine strikeouts while surrendering just six hits and walking three.
Mykenzie Borger pitched a few innings of relief for the Renegades, who now fall to the Loser's Side of the playoff bracket.
In Loser's Side games on Monday, meanwhile, the second-ranked Couchiching Raiders rebounded from their first loss of the post-season to eliminate the eighth-seeded Dawson Tigers with a 5-3 win.
Grace Bragg garnered the win over Alicia Anderson.
And the fourth-ranked Northwest Bay Beavers dumped the sixth-seeded Fort Frances Mud Dogs 17-9 to eliminate them from the playoffs.
Shae Smith homered to pace the Beavers' offence while Shelby Tymkin went yard twice in a losing cause for the Mud Dogs.
Darcy Smith earned the pitching win over Rachelle Yeo.
Tonight's Loser's Side matchup will see the Raiders hosting the Beavers at Couchiching at 6:30 p.m. (weather permitting).
The winner of that game will advance to face the host Renegades in the Loser's Side final next Monday (Aug. 19) at 6 p.m. for the right to advance to play the Her-icanes for the league title on Aug. 21.
