Ryan Faragher is getting a front-row seat for what’s turning into a pretty good series.
The Fort Frances native currently is serving as the back-up goalie for the San Diego Gulls, who trail the Ontario Reign 2-1 in their best-of-seven AHL Calder Cup Pacific Division final.
Faragher was called up from the ECHL’s Utah Grizzlies on April 29 after Gulls’ goalie Anton Khudobin was injured in the team’s series-clinching win in the semi-finals that same night.
Gulls’ goalie Matt Hackett has played all three games against the Reign, which won the first two games 5-3 and then 2-1 in overtime.
But Hackett recorded 29 saves on Sunday to earn a 3-0 shutout in Game 3.
Game 4 goes on Friday in San Diego, with Game 5 set for Ontario on Saturday.
If necessary, the Gulls will host Game 6 on Monday, with Game 7 back in Ontario next Wednesday.
