A reminder the Nevin Bonot Memorial golf tournament will take place this Saturday (July 22).

To register your team, call the Emo Legion (482-2250) on Monday to Saturday from 3-6 p.m.

Watch for posters or check out the Legion's Facebook page for more information.

Then a week later (July 29), the Lions Clubs of Rainy River District will be holding their “Lions Legacy” golf tournament at Kitchen Creek beginning at 9 a.m.

Lions around the world are celebrating their 100-year anniversary and this tournament is the local clubs' contribution to the celebrations.

Featuring a best ball format, the entry fee is $100/person or $400 for a team of four, which includes 18 holes of golf, use of a cart, and a fantastic supper afterwards (entries limited to the first 36 paid teams).

There will a chance of winning a car with a hole-in-one on a hole to be determined.

There also will be putting contests, driving contests, and other fun contests, with prizes for all!

To enter or for more information, contact David Beach at 276-0464 or davebeach321@gmail.com, Bill Michl at 276-1334 or bmichl226@gmail.com, or Joanne Ogden at 271-0941 or wwaogden@jam21.net

All proceeds will go to district charities such as KidSport, Special Olympics, the “Community Chest,” and the Emo and District Medical Fund.

This also is a good time to join the Lions International organization—the largest volunteer group in the world.

The Lions will be in B.C. helping the victims of the wildfires. They often are the first group on the ground at any natural disaster.

The clubs here in Rainy River District quickly are becoming known as groups that care about others, and who are willing to do anything to make their communities and the world a better place to live.
