Four Muskie skiers qualify for OFSAA


The Muskie Nordic ski team put on a show at the NWOSSAA championships held Tuesday in Dryden.

The black-and-gold now will have four of its members representing Northwestern Ontario at the OFSAA championships set for Feb. 28-March 1 in Duntroon.

Emma Toriseva (17:55) and Kayli Machura (18:33) finished 1-2 in the junior girls' division to book their ticket to the all-Ontarios.

Tori Toriseva was the lone Muskie in the senior girls' division, where she snared gold with a time of 27:11.

The final Muskie qualifying for OFSAA was Joseph Dueck, who nabbed bronze in the senior boys' division (31:24).

Steven Dueck placed sixth in the race (34:45) to finish shy of advancing while Corbin Grynol did not finish.

Other Muskie finishes included Ray Calder, who wound up seventh (31:59) in the junior boys' division.

Tanner Williamson was just behind (36:15) while William Richards did not finish the race.
