Former Laker to join Thunderwolves

Category:

The Lakehead Thunderwolves men's hockey team will have a local connection next season.

The program announced Monday the commitment of Fort Frances native Jordan Larson, who is transferring to play in Thunder Bay after spending the last two seasons in the NCAA at the University of Alabama-Huntsville.

The 23-year-old Larson previously had played in Thunder Bay for two years with the 'AAA' Midget Kings.

“I'm really excited about transferring to Lakehead and living in Thunder Bay again,” Larson said in a team-issued statement.

“Now I can't wait to come back to continue my hockey career and get my degree.”

Prior to playing for the University of Alabama-Huntsville, Larson suited up for four seasons with the Pembroke Lumber Kings and the Carleton Place Canadians of the Central Canada Hockey League.

Larson averaged more than a point per game in his final junior 'A' season, finishing with 23 goals and 52 points in only 38 games.

“We're thrilled to have an experienced player like Jordan join our program,” first-year Thunderwolves' head coach Andrew Wilkins said in a statement.

"After meeting with him on his recruiting visit, I was very encouraged by how eager he is to come to Lakehead.

“Jordan will be a great fit both on and off the ice,” Wilkins added.

The Thunderwolves will open OUA regular-season play on Oct. 12 when they welcome the Western Mustangs to the Fort William Gardens.
