Another year, another title at Crow Lake for Dallas Mosbeck and Wayne Howard.
Mosbeck, of Emo, and Howard, from Fort Frances, teamed up once again to take home the title for the third straight year at the Crow Lake Classic Bass Tournament held in Nestor Falls on Saturday and Sunday.
Leaving the docks in second place after a Day 1 haul of 14.08 pounds, the duo added another 14.4-pound bag on the final day to top the 26-team field with a two-day total of 28.48 pounds.
Mosbeck and Howard also reeled in the second-biggest fish on Day 2—a 3.92-pound lunker.
Bryan Gustafson, who was born in Fort Frances but now lives in Kenora, and his girlfriend, Breanne Becker, finished as the runners-up with a two-day total of 26.09 pounds.
Taking third place were Dan and Dennis Meckling with 24.48 pounds, who had the fourth-biggest fish on Day 2 (3.55).
They were followed by Luc Levesque and Jessica Pearson (24.44), while Derek Shebagegit and Mick Copenace rounded out the top five (24.41).
Shebagegit and Copenace had the biggest fish on Day 1—and of the tournament itself—when they weighed in a 4.51-pound monster.
Dan Kelly and Dan Joseph finished sixth for the second straight year (24.37), followed by Greg Stahn and Theo Degroot (24.32).
Gerald Arch and Kathy McLeod placed eighth (23.72), while Steve Hanson and Jamie Krukoski took ninth (23.38).
After leaving the docks in first place on Sunday morning following their Day 1 haul of 14.09 pounds, Myron Tinklenburg and Brent Akire slipped all the way down to tenth after reeling in just 8.79 pounds on the final day.
Jon and Dave Evans caught the biggest fish on Day 2—a four-pound monster that helped them finish in 14th spot with a two-day total of 21.71 pounds.
