“Great Big Sea” front man Alan Doyle’s new hit single would have provided an appropriate soundtrack to the Muskie court teams trip to Kenora yesterday.
1, 2, 3, 4 . . . wins in a row, that is.
The black-and-gold made themselves right at home in the Beaver Brae gymnasiums as all four teams won their NorWOSSA regular-season openers.
Claire Hyatt netted a team-high 11 points as the Muskie senior girls’ basketball squad beat Kenora 30-24.
The junior hoopsters, meanwhile, prevailed by a 35-30 score.
Abby Sanders led the Muskies with nine points while Ellie Petsnick added eight.
In boys’ volleyball action, the senior Muskie squad, which had all of two days to be created after a coach finally was found, stumbled in the first set against the host Broncos.
But the defending NWOSSAA champs rallied to take the match 3-1 (22-25, 25-15, 25-17, and 25-15).
The junior Muskies also spiked their way to a 3-1 triumph (25-21, 22-25, 27-25, and 25-16).
All four teams resume NorWOSSA action next Thursday in Dryden against the Eagles.
