Couchiching Raiders remain undefeated

It was a battle of Rainy River District Women’s Fastball League juggernauts but it was the Couchiching Raiders who came out on top last night.
The Raiders improved to a league best 6-0 with a narrow 5-4 win over the three-time defending champion Fort Frances Her-icanes.
Grace Bragg pitched solidly once again to nab the win while Mariah Leahy was saddled with the loss for the Her-icanes (4-1).
In other games last night, the Renegades improved to 5-1 with an 18-3 rout of the Red Gut Babes in Barwick.
The game was called after five innings due to the mercy rule.
Karma Andy homered and garnered the pitching win while Mykenzie Borger also went yard for the Renegades.
Lynn Windego suffered the loss for the Babes (0-2-2).
Charmaine Hunter homered to pace the Dawson Tigers (1-5) to their first win of the season in a 17-11 decision over the Manitou T-Birdies.
Cass Teeple garnered the win while Bev Cochrane was saddled with the loss for winless Manitou (0-6).
Despite getting a homer from Rylee Redford, the Fort Frances Angels suffered a 13-4 setback to the Northwest Bay Beavers.
Darcy Smith nabbed the win for the Beavers (2-3) while Redford suffered the defeat for the Angels (3-2-1).
The Sabaskong Tebinaak (1-3) at Big Grassy Lynx (4-1) game was postponed and will be rescheduled later in the season.
The Fort Frances Mud Dogs (1-3-1) had the bye.
In Rainy River District Fastball League action Tuesday night, meanwhile, the Fort Frances Braves cruised to an 8-1 win over the Northwest Bay Chieftains in a make-up game for the one that was postponed back on May 23.
Cole Tymkin homered twice and earned the pitching win for the first-place Braves (5-0).
Don Smith was tagged with the loss for the winless Chieftains (0-5).
League play is slated to resume tonight (weather permitting) with the first batch of interleague games for the season.
The Sight & Sound Wolves play host to the Sabaskong Lakers, the Chieftains will travel to Rainy River to take on the Royals, the Stratton Eagles will battle Windey’s Warriors, the Sabaskong Goldeneyes will square off against the Braves, the Dawson Tigers head to Manitou Rapids to take on the Thunderbirds, and the Couchiching Raiders will lock horns with the Barwick Blue Knights.
