Annual slo-pitch tourney ready to go

The Devlin slo-pitch league will hold its annual Gus Lindberg/Kingsley Downs Memorial Tournament tomorrow through Sunday (July 13-16) at the Devlin Ball Diamond.

There will be plenty of auction on the diamond, as well as a full canteen and beer gardens.

Come out and enjoy the action!

The annual community picnic is scheduled for this Sunday (July 16) starting at 5 p.m.

Bring a lawn chair and come out and enjoy the fun. Food and games will be provided.

There also will be a bouncy castle for the kids to enjoy.

The township and organizers hope to see a lot of folks there.

The Township of La Vallee has named Rick Hallam as our area's new interim Chief Building Official.

At the same time, the township would like to thank Marc McPherson for his time here and wish him all the best in his future endeavours.

A big thank you to all the organizers and volunteers who helped with the youth baseball that took place in Devlin this summer.

About 80 youths, aged five-14, from all around the district participated.

After purchasing all new ball equipment, a hotdog cooker, plus all the food/snacks, Devlin Youth Baseball cleared roughly $300, which will be put towards next year's baseball season.

Belated happy birthday wishes to Debra Firth, who celebrated her 60th birthday on July 5.

She was honoured with a surprise tea earlier this month.

Congratulations to Annika McTavish and Derek Mineault, who were wed July 1 in Victoria, B.C.

Anikka is the daughter of Jeff and Julie McTavish and the granddaughter of Allan McTavish and Betty McTavish.

Several family members travelled to Victoria to take part in this special event.

The Christian Reformed Church in Emo will hold its annual Vacation Bible School there July 17-21 from 9 a.m.-noon each day.

Admission is free and children who finished JK through Grade 6 are welcome to attend.
