Lori King, left, instructor for the Seven Generations Education Institute’s hairstyling program, offered pointers to student Joanna Singleton as she coloured a client’s hair using a “foiling” technique. Singleton is one of seven students who enrolled in the program’s inaurgural session in 2017. Throughout its last semester, the students have been taking on clients three days a weeks to enhance their skills while also gaining experience working in and running a salon.
