Green Light ceremony

Photo Album:
Category:

Jasmine Nastiuk, left, and Priscilla Simard lifted bags filled with green lights bulbs while Couchiching Chief Brian Perrault held up a green blanket wrapped around tobacco, two green lights, and a green ribbon that was passed on from Lac La Criox Chief Clayton Ottertail at the Couchiching pow-wow grounds back on July 1. The ceremonial song and honouring of the items was part of a ceremony signifying the passing on of the “Project Green Light,” a project in First Nations' communities that signifies a safe home by a porch lit with a green light bulb, from one community to the next.
