A 75-foot white spruce fell on Bob Gadd’s house in Crozier yesterday, knocked over by high winds. He’s still waiting for the damage to be assessed, but the huge tree has at least caused a leak in his roof. Two other towering spruces in his yard were also felled by the elements yesterday. Gadd planted all the trees back in 1953, and remarked this morning he never thought he’d live so long as to see them grow so tall. —Duane Hicks photo
