The Town of Fort Frances Airport and Fire/Rescue Services took part in an emergency exercise this morning at the Fort Frances Airport grounds. Fire Chief Tyler Moffitt said the exercise was a simulation of a plane crash that took place in an open field just southwest of the airport tarmac. A call was put through from the airport to emergency responders just after 9:30 a.m., requesting aid and assistance at the field. At the beginning of the simulation, firefighters arrived at the scene and immediately were sent out to the “crash” site. The simulation was completed at 11:15 a.m. The Fort Frances Airport is required to undergo emergency simulation training every five years.
