Cooking bannock

Grade 4 students from St. Francis School cooked up some bannock on a stick this morning during the Seven Generations Education Institute’s annual “Fall Harvest” preparations workshop at the Nanicost grounds here. Several new stations, including this one based in Métis culture, were added to this year’s workshop. The event teaches many traditional skills, such as preparing wild rice, cleaning fish, and tanning hides, as well as offering lessons on story-telling and drumming. The “Fall Harvest” also runs tomorrow and Thursday, with the public also welcome to attend.
