‘Topped out'

Photo Album:

Known as “topping out,” a Christmas tree, which is lit up at night, was placed on the steel structure at the future biomass boiler. It is a tradition that signifies that the building has reached its maximum height—and is considered a major milestone in the construction of a project. The custom of decorating the uppermost point of the structure with an evergreen tree predates the structural-steel industry in North America by hundreds of years and has old northern European roots.
