It's not too late to sign up for a Women In Politics symposium set for this Wednesday (Feb. 7) from 6-7:30 p.m. at Confederation College here.
The event— entitled “Do You Want to Run in Politics?”—will feature a panel including Thunder Bay councillor-at-large Rebecca Johnson, who also is co-chair of the Women in Politics group, as well as local councillors Wendy Brunetta and June Caul.
Some of the things they're going to talk about include making the decision to run, planning your campaign, and what life in public office really is like.
Those women who plan to attend are urged to register at paro.ca or womeninpolitics.ca by tomorrow morning (Feb. 6) so organizers can prepare the right amount of materials, said Fabiola Martinez, co-ordinator for the PARO Centre for Women's Enterprise.
But because the event is free, last-minute attendees also are welcome and will be able to get a seat, she added.
Martinez said the session is not just for women wanting to run for municipal, provincial, or federal politics, but for those who might want to run for a school board or any other leadership role.
While the workshop is aimed at women interested in running for an elected position, anyone—including men who want to support a woman's campaign—is welcome to attend.
