User fees for town services could go up in 2017.
Town council will receive a recommendation from the Administration and Finance executive committee for a 1.5 percent increase to all user fees during its regular meeting Monday night.
This increase is in line with the Ontario Consumer Price Index inflationary increase—a practice council has followed in recent years.
In a written report from town treasurer Laurie Lindberg, she noted user fees are “an important part of the operational budget for the coming year.”
“In the past few years, we have endeavoured to pass the user fees, with the exception of water and sewer rates, for the upcoming year in November or early December,” she wrote.
Divisions will bring user fee schedules forward to their respective executive committees the week of Nov. 7 for review and recommendation.
Water and sewer rates are determined separately, and will be brought forward for consideration by council in January or February.
