Transportation policy revisions up for vote

Category:

The Northwest Catholic District School Board plans to vote on revisions to the Northwestern Ontario Student Services Consortium Transportation Policy at its regular meeting tonight.

The board also will discuss reports on the consolidation of St. Michael's and St. Francis schools here, student report cards and EQAO achievements, kindergarten registration, and its 2018-19 budget.

As well, the board will review a report that outlines how to distribute the eight trustee representatives between all the municipalities in the district.

The board also will hear delegations/presentations on early learning and virtual reality, as well as make decisions regarding reports on administrative procedures such as key control, automatic electronic defibrillators, and accessible customer service standards.

Trustees also will discuss a disability management program that provides board employees with a timely transition back to work after an illness or injury.

That same report also looks at how the board will endeavour to modify the workplace to accommodate the needs of permanently-disabled employees.

As well, an upcoming principals' meeting will cover “back care” and discuss ways of using proper body mechanics to reduce the risk of injury.

Also tonight, Our Lady of the Way School students, along with teachers Nicole Wood, Erika Moffitt, and Lori Cress, will receive the board's monthly recognition of excellence for their dedication to helping the less fortunate.

O.L.W. students from kindergarten to Grade 6 helped to sew dresses that later were donated to the “Little Dresses for Africa” charity.

Tonight's meeting, which will be held via videoconference, begins at 6:30 p.m. at the board office adjacent to St. Francis School.
