The 2019 Mini-King and Mini-Queen once again will be crowned here on Canada Day.
Registration is now open for this year's contest, which will take place on the “Fun in the Sun” stage at Point Park on the afternoon of July 1.
Organizer Melissa Gushulak noted the contest is open to boys and girls aged four-seven (as of July 1).
They can be residents of any district community, not just Fort Frances.
She will accept five boys and five girls for the contest.
There is a $5 registration fee to enter but each contestant will get a goodie bag filled with prizes.
To register, call Gushulak at 275-8526 or contact her via Facebook.
The deadline to enter is 5 p.m. next Wednesday (June 19).
As in past years, each child will be asked a few basic questions (i.e., their age, where they go to school, names of pets, their favourite activities, etc.), with judges choosing the winners.
The mini-king and mini-queen will receive a crown, banner, and a prize in addition to the goodie bag all the contestants receive.
The pair also will have the honour of taking part in parades and other special events throughout the year, although the level of participation is entirely up to their parents, Gushulak noted.
Closer to Canada Day, Gushulak will know more details about the event, such as the exact time.
