May is Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month in Ontario—a month dedicated to raising awareness of issues related to sexual violence and promoting ways to stop sexual violence.
The OPP continues to work with our communities and regional partners to ensure all sexual assault victims are informed, protected, and supported.
Last June, the OPP joined representatives from several area agencies, including Kenora-Rainy River Child and Family Services, the Northwestern Health Unit, and Kenora-Rainy River District Victim/Witness Assistance Program, to launch the Sexual Assault Survivor website in Kenora.
The purpose of the website is to enable people to obtain relevant information and contacts for support services available in the region.
The site can be reached at www.1istoomany.ca
One-in-three Canadian women experience some form of sexual violence in their lifetime.
Let's do all we can to support these victims and prevent this violence.
