Nominees for top senior sought

Every year, the Township of La Vallee nominates a local individual as “Senior of the Year.”

But this year, the township decided to take a different approach and instead ask residents to nominate someone they think should receive the award.

The “Senior of the Year” has to be a resident of our township, be 65 years of age or older, and has made their community a better place to live.

Send the municipality your nomination, along with a brief reason as to why you chose this person and a little bit about them.

Nominations have to be received at the municipal office no later than Friday, March 31.

A reminder that cards are played every Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Emo Legion (singles are played so no partner is necessary).

The cost is $5, which includes a light lunch.

And don't forget that Bingo is played there every Tuesday, with doors opening at 6 p.m.

Starting March 3, the Emo Legion will be having a beer-and-burger bar special every Friday from 7-9 p.m.

The cost is $5 and the bar will stay open late.
