Man facing charges

A Fort Frances man is facing several charges following an overnight incident on the 200 block of Second Street East.

Christopher Palubeskie, 34, has been charged with:

  • possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose;
  • careless storage of a firearm; and
  • uttering threats.

He was released on a promise to appear in court here Feb. 22.

The incident began shortly after 10 p.m. on Tuesday when the Rainy River District OPP received a report of a male who had barricaded himself in a residence.

It ended around 9:35 a.m. yesterday when Palubeskie surrendered to police and was taken into custody.

First and Second Street East were blocked off during the standoff for public safety purposes.
