Logue named top senior

Beth Logue was presented with the Township of Alberton's annual “Senior of the Year” award at the town's municipal office last Wednesday evening.

The award was presented by Reeve Michael Hammond after he delivered a short speech in front of a few of Logue's family members, as well as other township residents, at the start of the Alberton council meeting.

“This year, Beth, you are chosen for your years of service as a clerk assistant in our municipal office,” Reeve Hammond said.

“Your friendly smile and greetings, and helpful assistance, make the many residents feel welcome when they came in through the door,” he noted.

He added that over the years, Logue helped in advocating for and creating the Millennium Park and rink site in 2000, as well as the installation of playground equipment for the kids, outdoor exercise equipment for adults, and outdoor areas to have a picnic or just rest out in the sun.

“It is people like you that make this community a great place to live,” Reeve Hammond remarked.

Logue said the playground was her favourite project to work on and advocate for.

She also said her motivation to volunteer comes from the community.

“You make friends and just encourage people,” Logue reasoned.

“I don't know how to get people to realize how important it is to volunteer.”
