Library 'Friends' holding unique scavenger hunt

There only are a few days left to submit entries for the Fort Frances Public Library's “Christmas Light Scavenger Hunt.”

All entries must be submitted by 1 p.m. this Saturday (Dec. 30) to

The hunt is being sponsored by the “Friends of the Library” and Cine 5 in International Falls as a fun, family Christmas activity.

Families are encouraged to take a tour around town taking pictures of Christmas lights and yard decorations, then submit their pictures with a scavenger hunt form.

To give a sense of friendly competition, pictures of certain items will be worth more than others.

For instance, pictures of Santa decorations, a candy cane, or a snowflake each are worth one point.

Finding a Disney character, an elf, or a giant present is worth two points each, with a snow globe, an Eiffel Tower, or a North Pole sign worth three points each.

There also are bonus points available for synchronized lights or “a selfie picture with LOTS AND LOTS OF outdoor LIGHTS,” according to the scoresheet.

The full scoresheet/list is available on the Fort Frances Public Library's website at

The points are just for fun, however, as all scavenger hunt entries, complete or incomplete, will be accepted and submitted into a prize draw.

The library is hoping this will be a fun activity families can do together during the holiday season.

It also is asking that participants indicate whether or not their photos may be used for promotional purposes on social media sites.
