The Town of Fort Frances has begun its search for a new fire chief/community emergency management co-ordinator.
Frank Sheppard has been fire chief here since 2011, first serving as acting chief on an interim basis after former chief Gerry Armstrong retired in late 2010.
The chief is responsible for the “day-to-day supervision of municipal emergency services [and] ensures appropriate interpretation and application of legislation, codes, and by-laws,” along with other duties.
A qualified applicant also must be certified as a fire inspector, investigator, and instructor, as well as other requirements.
The town also noted the ideal chief has “business acumen, great people skills, experience managing in a unionized business environment, and the ability to build relationships both within the organization and externally with the community stakeholders.”
Qualified candidates have until Aug. 25 to submit an application.
The new fire chief will commence their duties in October.
