'Country Jam' resuming

Category:

The new schedule for the “Country Jam” that is held each month at the Emo Legion has been released by the musicians.

The first “Jam” of the new season will be held on Friday, Sept. 22 starting at 7 p.m.

Those who love to dance to old-time country music, or just enjoy listening, are welcome to attend for only $2 (the admission fee helps the Legion with the costs of heating in the winter and air conditioning during the warmer months).

The enthusiasm of the musicians and the regular dancers remains strong and organizers hope to see a large crowd at this month's “Jam.”

The other “Jams” have been scheduled for Oct. 20 and Nov. 17. Be sure to mark these dates on your calendar and plan to attend.

The kitchen crew will be preparing some tasty snack for sale and the bar will be open. So bring a friend and be ready to have a fantastic evening!

The Rainy River Valley Agricultural Society is in the planning stages of a total renovation of the exhibition hall and re-construction of the food venues at the Emo fairgrounds.

In support of this, it will be holding a “kickoff event” (featuring a fall supper and auction) and is looking for support from the communities of Rainy River District.

The event will take place this Saturday (Sept. 16) at the Emo/La Vallee Arena. Cocktails will be available at 5 p.m. (cash bar), followed by an excellent supper of roast pork, potatoes, beans, coleslaw, homemade buns, apple crisp, and ice cream.

There also will be a silent auction and penny table.

Tickets cost $25 each, which are available from RRVAS board members (check the posters around town for other sale locations).

Please come out and enjoy an evening of great food and fun while supporting this worthy cause.

The Lions Clubs of Rainy River District will be holding their fall meetings starting this month.

All the clubs will be discussing ways to support the people of Mexico, Texas, and Florida.

If you would like to make a difference in the world, and make our district a better place to live, consider joining a club by contacting a member.

The newest project for Lions around the world will be raising money to help find a cure or a treatment for juvenile cancer. Help the Lions help others.
