College hands out awards

The Rainy River District campus of Confederation College held an awards ceremony last Tuesday.
It recognized students with scholarships, bursaries, and other awards for academics and community involvement.
The ceremony included students from across 10 different programs offered at the college.
Letters of First Class Standing are awarded to students who achieve a minimum semester grade point average of 3.50.
Letters were awarded to Selene Leblanc, Karla Veilleux, Mike Barlow, Tyler Big George, Amy Caul, Dorothy Bates, Deborah Emes, Edward Kabatay, Daniel Miller, Scott Cottam, and Cindy Lauzon.
Also receiving letters were Taryn Smith, Laura Wickstrom, Roy Flinders, Andrew Sandelovich, Rachelle Whalen, Ashley Stevens, Janel Barker, Jacob Empey, and Katelynn Stearns.
The In-program awards were given to full-time students to reward their academic achievement and community involvement.
In-program awards were given to Michael Barlow, Laura Wickstrom, Rachelle Whalen, Susan Gerber, Daniel Miller, and Roy Flinders.
The In-program award recipients received a combined total of more than $2,300 in awards.
The short awards ceremony was followed by a small lunch and refreshments for the winners and other attendees.
