About 600 Fort Frances Power Corp. customers in the west and northwest parts of town lost power for 32 minutes last night.
The FFPC said a damaged feeder cable at the Eighth Street substation was the cause of the outage, which occurred shortly after 9 p.m.
The cable failed so the FFPC crew had to isolate the problem and re-route power by paralleling it with another feeder.
The FFPC also had to turn off the power in the east end of town for about 20 seconds to let the crew parallel the feeders safely.
The damaged cable will be repaired at a later date, the FFPC said.
It added such equipment failures are rare.
