The annual Mini-Queen and King contest held in conjunction with the Emo Fair took place Thursday evening upstairs at the Emo-La Vallee Community Centre.
In the end, the mini-royalty for 2018 were Sloan Baird from Devlin and Niels Reynolds from Rainy River.

As always, the loggers' competition held Friday morning in conjuction with the Emo Fair was a success.
There were 14 competitors this year, which was the largest amount competing in many years.
The prestigious titles of both “Champion Logger" and "Safest Logger” went to Kelvin Caul.
The “Rookie Logger” title was taken by Kenny Roen.
Thanks to all competitors, volunteers, and the many businesses and individuals who so graciously donate to this every year.

The Rainy River Valley Agricultural Society's annual draw in conjunction with the Emo Fair saw Sandy Drennan win the Yamaha side-by-side.
The John Deere lawn mower was won by Tania Mutz while Wendy Galusha's name was drawn for the Yamaha four-wheeler.
Money raised will go towards iupgrading buildings on the fairgrounds.

Congratulations to Michelle Beck and Garnett Cornell, who were wed in a beautiful outdoors ceremony on Saturday.
The proud parents are Gary and Mildred Beck and Kim Cornell and Pat Clysdale-Cornell.

An old farmer's dog goes missing and he's inconsolable.
His wife says to him, “Why don't you put an ad in the newspaper to get him back.”
He does this but after two weeks the dog is still missing.
“What did you write in the paper?” asked his wife.
“Here boy!” he replied.
