To the editor:
We are very disappointed that town council decided to change the Sister Kennedy Centre's name.
Margaret and I were not seniors yet when Sister Kennedy and a dedicated group realized that there was very little for seniors in our community, notably a place to meet and socialize.
We both recall Sister Kennedy, a senior herself, being especially enthusiastic, persistent, and a feisty lady in never letting up on a dream to have a place for seniors.
Today, the Sister Kennedy Centre is a vibrant and wonderful place to attend, with many events taking place.
It is well-attended and all senior citizens are welcome, not only Catholics!
We're not sure where this notion originated from but it was mentioned in last week's article in the Times headlined “Seniors' centre name to change.”
Thank you for your space.
