Choices, good or bad, right or wrong, we all make choices every day. We don't know if these choices will bring good or bad into our lives.
But there is someone who does. Our Father God in Heaven who loves us, every one of us; so much so that He sent His son to die for us and made a way for us to ensure our eternity will be in Heaven.
Romans 10: 9-10 tells us the way. “That if you confess with your mouth Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.”
There also is another scripture that is worthy of serious consideration. Matthew 7: 21 says “Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of Heaven but only he who does the will of my Father in Heaven.”
Matthew 7: 22 says “Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord,' did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles? Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you, away from me you evil doers.'”
Verses 24-27 go on to explain who these people are. The ones who hear His words and puts them into practice will inherit eternal life with Him. The ones who do not put His words into practice will be lost.
This is why we must make a choice to believe what the Bible teaches us or believe only what we like. In the words of St. Augustine of Hippo: “If you believe in the Gospel what you like and reject what you don't like, it is not the Gospel you believe but yourself.”
We must no longer read into scripture what we already believe but believe what we read. We must not let society dictate to us what is right or wrong because society's rights or wrongs change from generation to generation.
The Bible is our one constant, never-changing guide.
God loves every single one of us with an everlasting love and wants only the very best for us. He created us as free moral agents with the ability to make our own choices so that any choice we make will not be dictated by someone else but made freely out of our own free will.
God's heart is that we would choose Him as our source of life.
God has never demanded that a person be perfect in order to follow Jesus. He only asks for the willingness and commitment to obey His word to the best of our ability. If we stumble and fall, by His mercy and grace, He will lift us back up if we will confess our mistake out of an honest and sincere heart and do our best not to make the same mistake again.
“When we obey God, we are sure that we know Him. But if we claim to know Him and don't obey Him, we are lying and the truth is not in our hearts” (1 John 2: 3-4).
The Bible is not a complicated book but it takes a certain amount of faith to accept what it teaches us. Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God.
This letter is not meant to offend anybody and if it does, I sincerely apologize. But it is meant to remind us that there is a way to ensure where we will spend eternity after death. Choices, good or bad, right or wrong.
I pray the reader will make what the Bible teaches is the right choice.
